Why should your domain name match your email address?

When an individual receives an email from an official email address that matches the domain of an organization they feel more confident because they are convinced that you officially represent your organization. Scams targeting church members most frequently are sent from personal email accounts and almost never domains. Organizations should consider putting policies in place that require all church-related communications from staff members to be sent from the church’s email system. As an example all emails should be sent from a team member’s yourchurch.org email address, and never from a gmail.com or similar account.

Another reason that your email address should match your website domain has to do with the new security measures email companies are putting into place.

If your website “mywebsite.com” attempts to send out an email from an address that doesn’t match the URL (something like hello@hotmail.com) most email providers are flagging this as spam. Some aren’t even allowing them to be delivered.

In addition to that, sometimes emails are being blocked simply because they’re coming from a website and not an email client. At Worship Times, we have a way around this.  If your email matches your domain (ex. https://mywebsite.com and hello@mywebsite.com) we have a way to verify and authenticate this email. This all but guarantees its delivery. Simply reach out to support and we can help.
