Using Conditional Logic on a Form – Video

Learn how to use conditional logic in your Gravity Forms. This is very powerful for using if-this then do-that features right inside of your forms!

Conditional logic is a way of allowing elements of your form to change based on user input – if “this” then “do that.” You can use conditional logic on form fields, sections or pages of your form, confirmations, notifications, and form feeds. Most often, you’ll use conditional logic on a follow-up question after a simple radio button field, but it can used in a variety of different places and in a variety of different ways.

To set up conditional logic on a field:

  • Make sure you have at least two fields on your form
  • Click on the field that you want to show or hide based on input from a previous field
  • In the settings for that field, on the left-hand side, scroll down to the Conditional Logic tab and click on it
  • Click on Enable Conditional Logic to make it active
  • In the first dropdown, choose either “Show” or “Hide” as the behavior for that field after certain criteria is applied
  • Note that you can add multiple criteria to the logic by clicking the + icon next to the first row of criteria – if you have more than one, you can select “All” (which applies all of the criteria before performing the behavior) or “Any” (which means that only one criteria has to exist on the form for the behavior to occur)
  • In the row of criteria:
    • Select a field in the first dropdown
    • Select an argument from the second dropdown
    • Select or enter in a value in the third column
  • Save Form

If your form already exists on a page, the conditional logic will be applied immediately upon saving. If you do not yet have the form on a page, you’ll need to insert it.

You can add similar conditional logic to multiple fields and even to sections of fields. You can also add conditional logic to a variety of things under your form’s settings.
