Logging-In and Getting Familiar with Navigating WordPress – Video & Article
Learn how to log into your website and the common areas of the WordPress backend.
Note that if you do not see “Edit Your Website” at the bottom of your site, you can also access the login page by appending your URL with /edit-website/ or on some sites /wp-admin/ – ex. https://thisismywebsite.com/edit-website/. Also note that different devices, especially smaller screens, will display the WordPress dashboard and editor differently, so things may not look exactly like they do here.
If you have issues logging in, here are some checks/steps:
- If you see a message about cookies, hard refresh the page.
- Check to see if you have any password managers or auto-fillers running and make sure they have the correct login URL (found by going to any page on your website and clicking on Edit Your Website at the very bottom of the page) and username/password.
- Try to log in once. If it doesn’t work, hard refresh the page and try a second time.
- Try logging in in an incognito/private browser or in a different browser altogether. (If that works, clear your browser cache on your primary browser).
- If you still can’t get in, click on “Lost your password?” to reset your password. You’ll receive an email to reset your password.
- If you see a limit login message/error, go to https://whatismyipaddress.com and send us your IPv4 at support@worshiptimes.org.
- If you continue to have issues, we can set up a temporary password for you – email us at support@worshiptimes.org.

On behalf of everyone at Worship Times, we would like to welcome you to the Worship Times family. We are absolutely thrilled to have you.
In this article, we will be helping you log into your website and learn some of the basics of navigating the back-end of your website.
To get started, navigate to your website’s homepage. Once you’re viewing your homepage, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the link titled “Edit Your Website.” When the login screen appears, go ahead and enter in your username and password and login.
Once you are logged in, a screen with a number of different options and information is displayed. This is called your Dashboard. Within the Dashboard, there are small boxes called widgets that display useful information about your site. Every Worship Times site will have our Worship Times widget, which will display some basic information from us here at Worship Times, including recent news, the primary builder of your site, and your site storage quota. There could also be additional widgets to display membership information or sales on your website. However, those widgets will not appear on all sites.
At the top of the page, you have what is called the admin bar. This is displayed throughout the site only when you are logged in, making it a very easy way to determine whether you’re logged in or not.
There are several tabs within the admin bar that give you quick access to different areas of the back-end of your site.
- The Worship Time support tab gives you two quick options. The first is to view our entire Learning Center with video tutorials, to walk you through making changes, adding content, or changing the way your site looks.
- The second is a direct link to contact our support team. Here you can submit a help ticket at any time if you have any questions or issues with your site.
- The next two tabs are Edit and Add New. These two tabs allow you to quickly edit or add content to your site. Don’t worry about knowing what all these links within the two tabs do, as everything will be covered in depth in future videos for now, just make note that they are here.
- The next tab will display your site’s name. This allows you to quickly view your website as if you were a visitor. This is also known as the front-end of your website. Go ahead and click on this. You’ll notice that the black admin bar follows you to the front-end of your website.
- There’s also a link to edit your ministry information that is displayed throughout your site, and that is shared with us here at Worship Times.
- The next tab is called Customize. This is a quick way to make changes to the way your website looks. We will cover the theme customizer in future videos. For now, just know that it is here.
- There’s also a tab for events. Here, you can create and edit events and view your calendar. We will also explore this feature in future videos. For now, make note that it is here as well.
To navigate back to the back-end of your website, click on the tab that has your website’s title displayed. Note that the home icon has now changed to a dial. This indicates that by clicking this link, you will be taken to the back-end of your website. You can also click Dashboard that is just under your site’s title.
The other main component of the back-end is on the left-hand side of your screen and is called the admin menu or admin sidebar. This is displayed only on the backend of your site. The admin sidebar displays all of your options to add and create content, and displays all of your installed plugins and all the settings areas. Do not worry about understanding what each of these tabs do or where they take you. Each will be covered in-depth in future videos.
If you have any further questions, please submit a support ticket or email us at support@worshiptimes.org, and one of our team members will reach out to you.
