Divi Projects & the Portfolio Modules – Video & Article
In addition to Posts and Pages, Divi also offers another custom post type called Projects. There are numerous ways in which this tool can be used – as a portfolio, for webinars/trainings, to better group and organize high-level, multi-content resources, like for presbytery meetings, and more. Like Posts, Projects also has the ability to categorize and tag each project. (By default, tags are listed as “Skills” on each project page, but if that doesn’t make sense for your use, we can add custom code to remove that label).
You’ll find Projects on the back-end of your website under Projects in the left-hand admin menu. You can view all of your projects, add a new project, and edit your categories and tags.
When you create a new project, you’ll see a lot of the same options as posts. You can add categories and tags, but one of the most important features of Projects is adding a Featured Image. Used in conjunction with the Portfolio module, Projects allow you to create a visually appealing grouping of similar items, and adding a Featured Image to your projects is what allows it to look so cohesive. We recommend adding a horizontal featured image minimally sized to 800×568.
After establishing the project’s settings, you can then go further by using the Divi visual builder to make your project pages look exactly how you want them to look. Once you’re done creating your page, Publish or Save your project.
Once you have at least one project set up, you can go to any other page on your site and add the Portfolio module to that page. You can choose to display all of your projects, or a specific category or multiple categories. There are many other settings for this module, including the ability to select to display only certain elements as well as to display your projects full-width or in a grid.
If you have a lot of projects and a lot of categories, you can also use the Filterable Portfolio module to display them. It’s very similar to the Portfolio module with the addition of category tabs that allow a user to easily navigate through all of your projects, all without leaving the page.
