Divi Background Videos
Background video specifications:
- Must be under 30MB otherwise they’re throttled by the server
- Background videos should use the H.264 codec
- Provide both mp4 and webm versions of the video
The theme/editor Divi allows for use of background videos in sections, rows, or modules. Here are some tips/tricks:
- Keep the file size of your video as small as possible for the minimum amount of load time (45MB or less usually works well).
- Decrease the length of the video so it’s as short as possible. (Looping can be used, just make sure it’s not an abrupt cut from the end back to the beginning).
- 720p resolution should be fine for background videos if it has an overlay or has a lot of content on top
- 1080p should be used if it’s primarily the video that’s being used
- Remove the audio.
- Store on a 3rd party platform, like Amazon S3.
Divi does NOT allow for 3rd party background videos (YouTube, Vimeo, etc) – they MUST be uploaded to the site or Amazon S3.
