Creating a Draft Version of a Live Divi Page
- From your dashboard, go to Pages
- Add New
- Give it a title – this can be “Playground” or “Draft Page” or whatever you’d like
- In the Publish box on the righthand side, change the Visibility from Public to Private
- Publish/Update the page
- Click on the “Use the Divi Builder” button to convert the page to Divi
- Select “Choose a Premade Layout”
- Select the “Your Existing Pages” tab
- Search for and select the page that you want to work on
- Use This Layout (this duplicates the content on the live pages and places it on this page)
- Make your edits and Save the page as much as you want over as much time as you want (this is NOT saving the changes to your live page – you’re just editing the playground/draft page that you created) – because it is private, the general public cannot access or see the page
-
When you are ready to push these changes to the live page:
- Go to the front-end version of the live page
- Enable Visual Builder
- Click on the purple circle with the down arrow, the “Save to Library” icon, to save the page BEFORE replacing the content (just in case) – give it a date and title and Save To Library
- Click on the purple + icon, the “Insert Layout” icon
- Select “Saved Layout”
- Select “Your Existing Pages” tab
- Search for and select the playground/draft page
- Make sure “Replace Existing Content” is checked
- Use This Layout
- Save the page
- You can delete the draft page or you can keep it for future use by using Insert Layout, selecting any page on your site, and Replace Existing Content.
