Add or Change the Colors of Your Categories on the Calendar – The Events Calendar – Video & Article

Learn how to change the color of each of the various categories used when creating your events and how to display a legend/key for your various categories. This is a great way to easily separate events on a full monthly calendar.

Learn how to change or add colors to event categories.

Note that this feature isn’t available on some sites and themes. It also requires an add-on to be activated. Contact us at support@worshiptimes.org if you’d like to learn more.

  • From your dashboard, hover over Events, and then click on Settings
  • Click on the Category Colors tab
  • Edit or add a border, background color, and/or text color
    • We typically recommend setting a border color, setting no background color, and leaving the text color as default.
    • For any color changes you make, make sure you stay consistent with the color palette of your website.
    • If you don’t see any colors, move the slider on the right-hand side up to allow colors
  • You can also change the font weight of the name of the events. We recommend bold.
  • There is also an option to add a legend to your calendar.
  • You can also highlight all of the events in a specific category, graying out all other events. So we’d come back to our settings page. If you enable that and enable “Check to add legend superpowers,” users can click on the name of each category, and then it will highlight the events in that category and gray out the rest.
  • Save changes.
